It was a weekend to remember at the Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre as the red, white, and black of Southend Athletic Club competed against the best in the county at the Essex County Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
We were incredibly proud to see 28 athletes representing the club across a massive variety of disciplines.
The real story of the weekend, however, was the staggering rate of improvement. Out of our 28 competitors, an incredible 26 Personal Bests (PBs) were recorded.
While the PBs tell the story of development, here are just a few of the standout podium finishes from the weekend:
- Billy: A phenomenal weekend in the field! Billy secured Gold in the Shot Put, Silver in the Hammer, and completed his set with a Bronze in the Discus.
- Alba: Showed incredible consistency in the throwing circle, claiming Silver in the Hammer and a hard-earned Bronze in the Discus.
- George Hill: One of our most exciting young sprinters, George blazed down the track to secure double Silver in both the U16 Boys 100m and 200m.
- Ade: Representing the veterans with distinction, Ade claimed Silver in the Vet final.
- Matthew Agbolegbe: In a lightning-fast U18 Boys 100m final, Matthew kept his composure to take home the Silver medal.
- Freya: Freya threw beautifully to secure Bronze in the Girls U18 Hammer.
